How to Run Halloween Carnival Games and Attractions

Bounce House

​

  • Before entering a bounce house, take off shoes, glasses, jewelry, and any other loose objects.

  • Always make sure an adult or trained staff member is close by to supervise activities.

  • If more than one child will be on the bouncer at the same time, the children should be approximately of the same age and size.

  • Refrain from rough play like tackling, wrestling, or doing flips.

  • Make sure that the bouncer meets the age and weight requirements; in general, limit bounce house use to children 6 years of age and older.

Beat The Creeper

 

How to run the game:

​

  1. Take ticket / check wristband

  2. This is a race. Four players are needed, and each chooses a lane. If the game is crowded, players can double up. 

  3. Volunteer spins the wheel which will land on a color. The player in that lane moves up the number of spaces on the wheel. If the wheel lands on a creeper, no one moves. 

  4. Volunteer spins the wheel until there is a winner. 

  5. The first player to reach the end wins a Gold Coin. The other players get a Piece of Candy.

  6. Tell the winner they can trade gold coins for prizes at the prize table near the gym.

Toilet Bowl Toss

 

How to run the game:

​

  1. Take ticket / check wristband

  2. The Player’s age determines where they stand

  3. The Player throws the toilet paper roll, trying to get it into the toilet bowl

  4. Tell the Player they can trade gold coins for prizes at the prize table near the gym.

 

Prizes:

​

0 rolls in 1 piece of candy

1 roll in 1 gold coin

2 rolls in 2 gold coins

3 rolls in 3 gold coins

Kinder Playground Hay Hunt and Bounce House

 

How to run the Hay Hunt game:

​

  1. Take ticket / check wristband

  2. Up to 3 Players can Hunt for Treasures at once

  3. The Player keeps any 2 treasures they find.  They are allowed to toss back any treasure they don’t want and keep hunting for something better.

  4. Volunteers periodically add prizes to the hay when it gets low.  ex: After 5 prizes have been found, add another 5 

  5. Tell the Players the gold coins can be traded for prizes at the prize table.

Take a Chance String Pull

 

How to run the game:

​

  1. Take tickets / check wristband

  2. The Player chooses a string and pulls it up.
    The Player is not allowed to “peek” into String Pull structure

  3. If the player pulls a Blue, Green or Yellow marker, they pick one prize from the corresponding bin.

  4. If the player pulls a Star, they pull a numbered poker chip from the pumpkin and win the prize labeled with that number.

    • The player must take the prize they win; they are not permitted to exchange for another prize. 

  5. Volunteers can periodically move the clip-on stars to different strings.

  6. Tell the Player they can trade gold coins for prizes at the prize table near the gym.

Game Tickets (Cash Sales)

 

Take cash and make change.

Sell strips of 10 tickets and game wristbands

​

Many people will be buying tickets here to get stuff from the Sweet Shoppe that is right nextdoor.

Cake Walk

 

How to run the game:

​

  1. Take ticket / check wristband

  2. The Players stand on the ring of the numbered floor dots.

  3. The Volunteer presses “play” to start a new song on the stereo.  The players begin to walk / dance around the circle.  It is important to start a new song for each round.

  4. After 45-60 seconds, the Volunteer presses “pause” and then presses “next” to cue up the next new song.  The music stops.

  5. When the music stops, the Players stop on the closest numbered floor dot.

  6. A Volunteer pulls a numbered poker chip out of the pumpkin, and the player on that dot is the winner.  

    • If no one is on the number, the game continues.

    • If a Player is on the number, that Player chooses a cake or gift card as their prize and leaves the game.

  7. If there is a line of people waiting to play, all Players must leave the game after each winner and get back in line.

Shark Bite / Go Fish

 

How to run the game:

​

  1. Take ticket / check wristband

  2. The Player puts the fishing pole in the shark’s mouth

  3. A volunteer behind the shark attaches one treat bag / coin / stuffed animal to the clip, and gives it a tug so the Player knows to “reel it in”.

  4. For toddlers and young kids, attach a stuffed animal or coin.  Try to avoid coins for the older kids!

  5. Tell the Player they can trade gold coins for prizes at the prize table near the gym.

How to run the game:

​

  1. Take ticket / check wristband

  2. The Players stand on the ring of the numbered floor dots.

Soda Ring Toss

 

How to run the game:

​

  1. Take ticket / check wristband

  2. The Player’s age determines where they stand

  3. The Player has 3 rings to throw.  The Player attempts to get a ring around a soda bottle.

  4. As soon as the Player rings a 2-liter bottle, the Player wins that bottle and they leave the game.  They don’t continue to throw rings to win more.

  5. If the Player rings the Bonus Bottle, the Player wins the bottle of soda and 10 prize table coins.  Tell the Player the coins can be traded for prizes at the prize table. 

  6. The Volunteer replaces bottles as they are won

  7. If the Player doesn’t ring a bottle, they get a piece of candy

Minute To Win It

​

How to run the game:

​

  1. Take ticket / check wristband

  2. Two Players compete in a series of 3 tasks. 

  3. They have 1 minute to complete all tasks.

  4. Task #1 is to stack 6 cups in a pyramid.

  5. Task #2 is to bounce 5 ping pong eyeballs into a cauldron.

  6. Task #3 is to feed the monster 10 candy corn using only chopsticks.

  7. Tell the Players the gold coins can be traded for prizes at the prize table.

 

Prizes:

​

  • Task #1 in less than a minute: 1 piece of candy

  • Task #1 and #2 in less than a minute: 1 gold coin

  • Task #1 and #2 and #3 in less than a Minute: 2 gold coins

  • If both Players successfully complete all 3 tasks in less than a minute, both Players get a bonus gold coin for a total of 3 coins each

Prize Table

 

How to run the attraction:

​

  1. Children will have gold coins

  2. The Children will exchange the gold coins for prizes

  3. The prizes have a number on them indicating how many gold coins they cost.

  4. Every once in a while, redistribute the gold coins to the games that give them out.  Do this by giving a pale of coins to the people running the volunteer check in table.

Haunted House

​

Parents:

  • Stand at the bottom of the stairs and take tickets and check wristbands.

  • Keep the groups to a max of 4.  ex: Split groups of 6 into 3 and 3, groups of 5 into 3 and 2.

  • Space the groups about a minute apart.

​

Students:

  • Up in the haunted house doing the scares.

​

Rules:

  • SAFETY IS NUMBER ONE!

  • No Running!

  • No Chasing!

  • No Grabbing!

Sweet Shoppe Sales
Trade Sweets for tickets.  Items should cost 1 to 3 tickets (the equivalent of $1 to $3)

Temporary Tattoos
Apply temp tattoos on kids faces, arms and hands.

Obstacle Course
One person takes tickets and checks wristbands.  The other person manages the line.  Kids will run through he giant inflatable obstacle course.  It might be possible to run races between two people.  This is not something that is at the carnival every year.

Sumo Pumpkins

  • Two kids get in the inflatable pumpkins and try to knock each other down in the confines of the Gaga Ball pit.

  • One person takes tickets, the other person makes sure the kids are safe as safe as they can be.

  • The kids bump into each other trying to knock each other down.

  • The game ends after 2 minutes.

  • There is no prize.


Soccer Darts

  • Kids try to kick a soccer ball at the center of a giant inflatable dart board.

  • One person takes tickets and checks wristbands and fetches the balls.

  • The other person encourages the kid and gives tips and helps them kick successfully.

  • The kids get 3 kicks.

  • There is no prize.


Themed Gift Basket Ticket Sales
This is an involved position and you will get one-on-one instructions for how to take money and card payments and how to sell "arm's length"s of tickets

 

Game Set Up

  • Place the games in the classrooms and on the playground.

  • Make sure all the parts of the game are present and set up according to the sheet of game instructions.


Construction Crew

  • Erect tents

  • Build the Castle Wall at the front of the school

  • Hang and set up other things as needed (tents, fortune teller tent, etc)

  • Set up the face boards (pound sign posts into the ground, wire a board to the posts)

  • Set up cauldron (pound sign posts into the ground, wire a board to the posts)


Ambiance Crew

  • Decorate the fence with spider webbing

  • Place decorations in the gym

  • Assemble the giant spider on the fence near the entrance

  • Hang ghosts in the front door portal

  • hang cheese cloth and stars and moons from garden portal
